finding balance

Finding balance as a mom...does that even exist??? I often ask myself this question repeatedly on days when I don't remember the last time I peed or ate something, which is especially true with having 3 little ones. The very small glimmers of hope or sunshine are often the things that get me through the day such as...

every one eating their lunch or when your kids actually play together!! This can really exist??? Amazing!!!

For example, right now I am sitting outside by the pool in Palm Spring reading my book as my baby

sleeps in the house. The unfortunate part is that he has  the flu on our vacation (and my 5 year old had to get antibiotics for an ear and tonsil infection two days after getting here). On the plus side, this is my first time in 7 days we have been here that I've enjoyed complete silence. I may have made myself an adult beverage to go with my book...

Finding time for yourself is easier said then done. When it comes to exercise for myself I have learned over the years that I tend to enjoy exercising in the morning than any other time of the day. I now get up at 530 am (I know crazy right?!?!) and go for a 6 am spin class. This is my only hour to myself that I typically get in a day. Even though it's super crazy early, I find I am a happier and funnier mom when I give myself a little bit of me time.

I also ensure that I book in monthly massage appointments for myself. Sometimes it's just having these 1 hour appointments at the end of the day to look forward to can get me through my day! Especially when it means you get to miss bed time!! Whoot whoot!!

Something that is really hard for my " A type" personality to do, but I continue to work on is to be "ok" with a dirty house; dirty laundry; dirty dishes in the sink; finger prints all over the stainless steel appliances and walls etc. Letting some of these things go has allowed me to be more of a fun mom! Let's be honest our kids aren't going to remember if the house was clean or not when we went to the zoo!!

tired (which is always an excuse); I feel bad leaving my kids (which is crazy since I spent 12-14 hours with them daily!!) or I have housework to do (let's be honest this is never ending!)).

However, once i get my but out, it is so refreshing and amazing! It truly makes me appreciate my kids more and them appreciate me more (which is truly most important)!

I find I need to push myself to get out and spend time with my friends when it doesn't include my kids...there are some situations that I can find any excuse in the book not to go out...I'm
My last piece of advice is to give yourself permission to take help when offered and to even ask for HELP!! We aren't failures as moms if we ask for help!! This could mean taking help from friends or family. It means we are humans beings and sometimes it can just get too much!! I've recently just started doing this and honestly it's the best thing ever!
